Here Near The End

Odette woke up with a little jolt as she remembered what had happened, "Michael." She whispered, what if Joseph had hurt him? She looked around herself and winced, her stomach hurt even worse then anything she had known before. She flinched as she remembered Joseph thrusting his sword into her....payback is a bitch she thought darkly as she tried to maunever herself and failed. She couldn't just lie here and let Joseph hurt who knew who else......it wasn't fair...

(I also am gonna say for the sake of convience that someone brought her back XDD)

"Oddie?" Esme peaked insde the room and gasp when she saw her firend was awake and hurried oevr to her side, gently pushing her back to lie down on the bed.
"Don't you even think of moving out of bed! You almost gave me a heart attack when I saw you! Really, trouble follows you everwhere...1" she sighend, quckly calming down as he stood up to get something.

Odette stared at her with some confusion in her eyes, "Esme? What happened?" She asked softly.

"I should be the one asking that!" Esme burst out, worry and concern clear in ehr eyes. "I was just having one of my normal days, checking out the sickbay to see if they could borrow me some stuff again and they're all ina hurry trying to save your life," she explained. "THey found outside the door, bleeding like crazy with your stocmach cut open! And..." she trailed off, her eyes saddening as she looked oevr her friend. "They couldn't save the child..."

Odette's eyes filled with tears at those words and she let out a choked sob, "It was Joseph...he stabbed me." She whispered quietly. She looked at Esme, "Does Phoebus know?" She asked.

Esme was imediently at ehr side, embracing her firend. "I'm so sorry Odette," she whsiperd. "And, I don't know if he knows... I just found out about this myself..."

Odette nodded and clung to her friend, "I don't want him to know....I just can't..deal with him." She admitted softly as she looked down.

"Then he won't know, don't worry Odette, I'll help you any way i can," she assured her.

Odette sagged in relief, "Thank you Esme...I really appreciate that." She said quietly.

"Of curse, no need to thank me," she sighend. "Now please, lay still and i'll go get some new bandages, I need to chnage the ones your'e wearing..." she mumbled as she stood up.

Odette nodded and watched her leave to get the bandages, she prayed that Michael was all right. Why did she even care? She took a breath as she remembered how he had stood up to Joseph so many times.

When she walked back in, the look on her firend's face only made her worry more. "Odette..." she said softly and sat down beside her again. "Is there somethign I can do? Anything at all?"

Odette slowly looked at Esme, "No...I'm just worried...about Michael. He tried to stop Joseph and I'm just worried that Joseph may have.." She trailed off.

She frowned. "Michael?" she said shocked. "The Michael? The kidnapper and slave trader?!"
She forced herself to clam down quickly and sighend. "He's not worth worrying about Odette..."

Odette shook her head," He risked his life for me Esme...not once but three times. I know he's done bad things but maybe...he's not all bad." She said softly.

"Maybe so... but, you shouldn't get more involed with any of them anymore. Yes, all humans no matter how rotten they are always ahve some good part left in them, but that doesn't mean it's ok to b around them..!"

Odette looked down, she knew Esme had her reasons for not liking Michael but she wasn't going to stop wondering about him. She didn't trust herself to speak...after all she had been pregnant with his child and oddly enough she would have kept tabs on it as it grew up.

"Oddie, look I didn't mean to snapp at ya, but the people who cares about you get hurt by all this as well...." she sighend, draggin a hand through her hair.

Odette looked away, "I know.. ..I never meant to hurt you." She said softly and then her eyes widened, "Jim can't know Esme! He'll get so angry if he finds out." She whispered.

"It's alright Oddie. don't apologize," she froced out a smile, but it quikcly vanished though when she mentioned Jim. "Oka oka, I won't tell anyone about this, I promise," she said calmly. "Wouldn't want that guy going crazy on us and then runnign after those pshycopaths," she chuckled, not knowing about those three being related in any way.

Odette gave her a weak smile, she has no idea how fast Jim would do that she thought, "Thank you Esme." She whispered.

"You're welcome... Try and egt some reast ok?" she smiled gently and brushed her cheek. "I won't be going anyhwere, i'll stay heer until you're back on your feet."

Odette smiled, "Shouldn't you be with John or Mowgli?" She asked, even though she was relieved that Esme would stay with her.

"Mowgli is with out uncles, they won't even let him go the bathroom by himself so he's good," she smiled. "And John... He can take care of himself..."
